Requirements

  • Knowledge of microbiology laboratory procedures, including sterility tests, microbial load estimates, endotoxin tests, microbial isolate identification, and validation of sterilization cycles and product testing procedures
  • Ability to perform environmental monitoring, sampling, and predetermined testing programs for controlled environments and water systems to meet environmental, validation, and calibration specifications
  • Skills in laboratory equipment qualification, calibration, and preventive maintenance
  • Proficiency in documentation, including accurate recording of procedures and results, data archiving, trend graphing for environmental, water system, product tests, and lab KPIs, product traceability, general investigations, OOS/CAPA support, and creating/updating work instructions, forms, and procedures
  • Capability to support training for plant personnel on environment, hygiene, product sampling, and other topics, as well as training other analysts

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily microbiology laboratory tasks, tests, and processes to monitor the production area environment
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and tests on raw materials and processes according to documented routine procedures
  • Perform maintenance of the microbiology laboratory
  • Execute general investigations and support out-of-specification (OOS) and CAPA investigations
  • Qualify basic laboratory equipment and update laboratory documents
  • Assist in validation of manufacturing sterilizers, cleanrooms, support systems, and water systems
  • Support training of plant personnel and other analysts on relevant topics
