AI Tutor, Biology Specialist

Position Overview

As an AI Tutor, Biology Specialist, you will play a key role in advancing AI capabilities by reviewing expert-annotated biological data using proprietary software. Your expertise in biology will directly contribute to the training of AI models, ensuring accuracy in biological concepts, terminology, and applications. This role requires analytical thinking, adaptability, and a passion for technological innovation in the life sciences.

This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to Handshake’s primary business operations. The Contractor’s services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.

Your Role

• Utilize proprietary software to evaluate AI-generated biological content and provide expert feedback.
• Ensure high-quality biological data curation to enhance AI model performance.
• Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and methodologies for biological data.
• Apply expertise in biology to assess AI-generated and human responses in various life science domains.
• Interpret, analyze, and review biological tasks based on evolving guidelines.

Requirements

• Education: PhD in Biology or a related field (either in progress or completed within the last 10 years).
• Writing Skills: Proficiency in both informal and professional scientific writing.
• Analytical Skills: Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex biological information.
• Communication: Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Decision Making: Ability to make autonomous decisions based on limited data.
• Passion: Passion for AI, scientific innovation, and technology.

Bonus Areas of Expertise

• Research experience with published work in a reputable biological journal.
• Previous experience in AI-assisted education or tutoring.
• Teaching experience (professor, lecturer, or tutor in biology or related fields).
• Experience in technical writing, science communication, or professional scientific writing.

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.
• Device Requirements: Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.

Location & Work Expectations

• Work Arrangement: Fully remote position.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $55/hr - $100/hr
• Note: For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
