Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Aerospace engineering, Aeronautical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Production/Manufacturing engineering, Mathematics or Physics discipline (minimum 2:2)
  • Aerodynamics and propulsion based modules are most relevant (such as Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Aircraft Performance, Flight Dynamics & Control etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Undertake four 6-month placements exposing you to various aspects of the aerodynamics department, including design of missiles across development stages (concept, assessment, development, in-service)
  • Apply and develop bespoke tools alongside commercial software to evaluate airframe performance
  • Explore stealth, propulsion, thermal and structural aspects of missile design in a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Work on missile integration onto land, naval and air platforms
  • Integrate solid rocket motors and air-breathing engines into missile airframes and assess their impact on aerodynamics and performance
  • Participate in personal and professional development courses for graduates and company-led internal technical courses
  • Potentially undertake one external 6-month placement (e.g., at Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, DSTL, ARA, S&C Thermofluids, Roxel Motors)
  • Receive mentorship from specialist aerodynamics engineers and use cutting-edge aerodynamic techniques
