What We Need

Symbotic’s SQA department is seeking an Advanced SQA Engineer to join our team. This engineer will be joining a team that establishes quality scalable engineering processes and tests business critical tools. This candidate will be involved in testing the new and existing software capabilities using a variety of both manual and automated testing methods. This person will ensure high quality delivery of business-critical products and solutions used for warehouse automation and logistics.

What You’ll Do

  • Work within the Software QA Team to validate a complex, distributed, multi-threaded, multi-processor system end-to-end, ensuring quality in mission-critical product releases to multiple production sites.
  • Test new product features and execute regression testing of existing features.
  • Work with development teams to develop test plans, test suites, and test cases that ensure the software stack is thoroughly verified and validated through manual and automated methods.
  • Test complex features or multiple simple features from requirements to release with minimal oversight.
  • Submit, track, and verify defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Write documentation, tests, scripts and tools to help facilitate testing best practices.
  • Participate in Agile/SCRUM exercises such as stand-up, grooming, planning, and retrospective, to ensure the team is working effectively and managing its work.

What You’ll Need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in software QA.
  • Testing Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of industry testing practices, including but not limited to:
    • Black, gray, and white box testing
    • Directed testing
    • Smoke testing
    • System testing
    • Performance, stress, duration, and scalability testing
    • Topology testing
    • Failover/disaster recovery testing
    • Automated testing
    • Integration and unit testing
    • Usability testing
    • Acceptance testing
    • Validation and verification
    • Ad-hoc testing
  • Plus Skills:
    • Experience working with hardware and/or hardware emulators.
    • Familiarity with SQL, XML, JSON, and C#.
    • Familiarity with microservice architecture and technologies like Kubernetes, Ansible, and Helm.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support unscheduled events.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous issues and tasks.
    • Capability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Methodology: Experience working with Agile development methodology.

Other Considerations

  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
