Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6 years experience in engine or vehicle assembly line
  • Experience in Diesel Engines
  • Must have ability to bend, crawl, stand, stoop and kneel in order to repair vehicles, and lift approximately 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and/or internationally
  • Proficient PC skills in Windows application including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint and MS Power App
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing and delivery
  • Manufacturing warranty experience
  • Proficient in conducting engine failure and failed component analysis
  • Skilled in basic metrology and foundational knowledge of engine and vehicle design, production and operations
  • Proficient in technical communications and skilled in maintaining bilateral communications with issue owners
  • Possesses high level of professionalism and integrity with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to see opportunities and be a self-starter with intrinsic focus on securing high value results for the organization without need for constant micromanagement
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing, QOS reliability process and requirements

Responsibilities

  • Reduce warranty cost expenditures and customer impact related to a medium duty diesel engine program
  • Conduct technical root cause analysis of failed engines and failed engine components
  • Publish warranty investigation reports based on failed part analysis, dealership visits, phone contacts and returned parts
  • Maintain log of returned parts including key claim information, status and tracking details
  • Communicate investigation reports to appropriate teams and collaborate to identify, develop and implement solutions
  • Develop test methodologies and apparatus to conduct physical testing of warranty return parts
  • Develop expertise in hands on repair methodology for various engine component failures
  • Monitors field (engineering, manufacturing, dealerships) for the effectiveness of countermeasure
  • Identify improvements to service procedures as opportunities present themselves
  • Performs miscellaneous jobs as related to assigned duties
