Requirements

  • Advanced degree in medicine, life sciences, or related field (implied by role as Clinical Research & Medical Sciences Director)
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the science behind Medtronic products, acting as an internal expert
  • Advanced subject matter expertise in clinical research and medical sciences
  • Experience leading clinical research projects across multiple therapies and businesses, including local and global studies
  • Strong regulatory knowledge to ensure studies meet scientific validity, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Expertise in interpreting clinical trials/research and approving scientific methods for clinical protocols and reports
  • Ability to develop and maintain networks with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Proficiency in competitive intelligence gathering in the medical technology space
  • Leadership experience in clinical/medical affairs strategy development and execution

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical/medical leadership at business reviews and discussions with Country Leaders in the ACEE region
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Clinical & Medical Affairs strategy in the sub-region
  • Serve as the Voice of the Patient and HCP
  • Provide strategic leadership for clinical strategy across relevant Organizational Units (OUs) in Medtronic-sponsored studies, Collaborative Research, and Evidence Research Programs (ERPs)
  • Ensure studies are scientifically valid, meet regulatory requirements, and are conducted ethically
  • Lead execution of local and global clinical research projects across Medtronic therapies and businesses
  • Ensure all clinical studies are published based on fair assessment of safety/efficacy and support timely product approvals
  • Partner with OUs/Marketing to disseminate published data via Advisory Boards, Focus Group Discussions, CMEs, Round Tables, and webinars
  • Partner with Regulatory teams to implement strategies for timely product approvals from worldwide bodies
  • Develop and lead strategic partnerships and engagement with HCPs and KOLs
  • Act as a speaker in scientific meetings representing the company
  • Ensure governance and compliance with Medtronic Business Code of Conduct, local laws, and regulations
  • Provide medical input to functions like General Management, Global Strategy, Business Development, R&D, and Marketing
  • Develop and articulate effective value propositions for Medtronic technologies to stakeholders (patients, HCPs, payers, governments, HTA organizations)
  • Interpret clinical trials/research and approve scientific methods for clinical protocols and final reports
  • Proactively develop competitive intelligence in the product space
  • Represent the organization in relevant capacities
