Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting
  • Experience with financial accounting and reporting, including month-end close processes, general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, inventory control/costing
  • Knowledge of company policy & compliance procedures, process improvement initiatives, technical accounting research
  • Experience handling internal reporting requests and coordinating internal/external audits and special projects
  • Supervisory experience with a moderate-sized staff of accounting professionals, including leadership, mentoring, hiring, and workload management

  • Ability to manage general accounting/accruals, inventory/stock (mass balance), product costing, business insurance renewal, fixed asset management (CIP and physical counts), significant sales/COS/OPEX accruals, localized accounting topics (e.g., real estate taxes, personal property taxes), ad-hoc entries
  • Proficiency in overseeing accurate financial and statistical close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, due diligence for acquisitions, ad-hoc reporting/analysis
  • Skills in technical accounting research, process enhancements leveraging systems/tools, people/process/system improvements, establishing performance metrics

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy & integrity of Division/Region financial statements and information reported to internal/external users, including general accounting/accruals, inventory/stock (mass balance), product costing, business insurance renewal
  • Oversee fixed asset management such as CIP and physical asset counts
  • Manage accurate financial and statistical close processes in conjunction with ALABS, including general ledger reconciliations and analyses within timelines, significant sales/COS/OPEX accruals, localized accounting topics (e.g., real estate taxes, personal property taxes), ad-hoc entries
  • Provide input/support to Airgas Financial Reporting on unusual items, Line 5 (share plans, asset disposals, settlements), Line 9 (restructuring)
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations performed by ALABS
  • Participate in due diligence and coordination of acquisition integration processes as required
  • Develop and direct preparation/communication of ad-hoc accounting reports and analysis proactively or as requested
  • Ensure clear/timely communication of and compliance with company financial policies/procedures; engage management for remediation/corrective actions
  • Lead enhancements to accounting/reporting processes using systems/tools
  • Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance to local team and regional finance leads
  • Identify/develop people, process, and system improvements to maximize department efficiency/effectiveness; establish metrics to measure/monitor performance
  • Supervise accounting staff, providing leadership, mentoring, hiring involvement, and workload maintenance
