Requirements

  • Ability to teach in-person on Saturdays from 9:00am-4:00pm (with 50-minute lunch) for ~6 standard hours weekly, plus up to 4 flex hours for preparation, grading, etc
  • Availability for 9th or 10th grade schedule: 9th Grade (Orientation 2/28, Academy 3/14 to 5/9, 8 sessions); 10th Grade (Orientation 1/24, Academy 1/31 to 5/9, 10 sessions)
  • Comfort teaching four 50-minute ELA lessons to groups of 25-30 students within 9:00am-4:00pm timeframe, including prep period
  • Proficiency in navigating instructional technologies: Brightspace (LMS), Nearpod, GSuite applications, Zoom chat in a Blended Learning environment
  • Ability to work part-time, seasonal (Spring 2026) at UC Law campus in San Francisco (200 McAllister St)

Responsibilities

  • Teach four periods of ELA instructional content (9th Grade: “Theory of Intelligence”; 10th Grade: “Critical Media Analysis”), follow provided lesson plans, meet objectives, abide by rigorous instruction and engagement criteria
  • Hold students to high expectations, use protocols for student-driven discussion and group work, promote depth of understanding via questioning
  • Read, internalize, practice lesson plans and materials prior to teaching; implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on student needs
  • Calculate grades per rubrics, provide actionable growth-oriented feedback, complete grading within 1 week, maintain electronic gradebook on Brightspace
  • Project energetic, engaging, approachable persona to foster student connection to content, investment in learning, and positive community relationships
  • Collaborate with SEO staff and instructors (implied in job context)
