Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred
  • 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means, proficiency in active listening, ensuring mutual understanding, and adapting communication style to various audiences
  • Basic computer skills such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries
  • Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year
  • Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl

Responsibilities

  • Advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation
  • Visiting farms to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedy when possible
  • Monitoring feed consumption and ordering if necessary
  • Pulling blood and fat samples as required
  • Coordinating chick placements to farms
  • Assisting with catch schedules
  • Ensuring communication among Hatchery, Feedmill, and Livehaul departments regarding their contract farms
  • Ensuring compliance with the production contract to optimize flock quality and minimize costs
  • Ensuring adherence to all USDA and other government regulations regarding poultry handling
  • Working with the Broiler and Breeder Departments in coordinating weekly chick placements
  • Performing other responsibilities as the need arises
