Candidates must have strong familiarity with Git and an open-source development background, ideally in Yocto/OpenEmbedded. Excellent communication via email and IRC, Python and shell scripting skills, and an understanding of software security issues are required. Preferred qualifications include experience with Yocto Project Bugzilla and Autobuilder, being a member of OpenEmbedded, 5+ years of Yocto/OpenEmbedded development, and long-term software maintenance experience. The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates in EU or EST time zones.
The Yocto LTS Maintainer will be responsible for maintaining core Yocto LTS layers including bitbake, openembedded-core, meta-yocto, and yocto-docs. This includes monitoring and backporting fixes, reviewing submitted patches, auditing branches for fixes, and queuing appropriate patches for build/test. The role also involves release management, planning and coordinating LTS dot releases with release notes, build monitoring, test result review, and scheduling. Additionally, the maintainer will handle security and quality assurance by tracking and assessing CVEs, running tools like cve-check, and publishing results. Community engagement through mailing lists, collaboration with contributors, and maintaining documentation and planning materials are also key responsibilities.
