Requirements

Ability to check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts
Ability to make repairs when necessary
Ability to check for weld spatter, burn-thru, and other visible weld defects and remove or repair when necessary
Proficiency with oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder
Ability to check completed work per job instructions and print specifications
Ability to properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds
Ability to load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes
Willingness to perform all job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and all other operations in the department
Ability to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures
Ability to record measurements as required
Ability to clean and change torch tips and nozzles, clean conducts or lines with solvent, and clean or change helmet lenses as necessary
Driven, quick-moving, calm, positive, with emphasis on teamwork in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity per SOP’s
Willingness to participate in team activities, problem-solving sessions, communicate problems/solutions, follow processes/procedures, document/chart production data, troubleshoot/repair, and train/instruct/assist other operators

Responsibilities

Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts; make repairs when necessary
Check for weld spatter, burn-thru, and other visible weld defects and remove or repair when necessary; may use oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder
Check completed work per job instructions and print specifications
Properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds; load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes
Perform all job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and all other operations in the department
Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures
Record measurements as required
Clean and change torch tips and nozzles, clean conducts or lines with solvent, and clean or change helmet lenses as necessary
Report labor
Move completed parts to designated areas; move stock to and from workstations, stock racks, and holding areas; rack and un-rack parts as required
Adhere to schedule, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity per SOP’s
Ensure both quality and quantity of work
Participate in team activities and problem-solving sessions as required
Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team member
Follow processes and procedures as written
Document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback, and production scheduling as needed
Troubleshoot problems and repair when necessary
Train, instruct, and assist other operators in their duties as required
