Requirements

  • Ability to check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts
  • Skilled in identifying and repairing weld defects such as spatter, burn-thru, and other visible issues
  • Proficiency with oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder
  • Capable of properly setting and adjusting welding parameters to maintain quality welds
  • Experience with loading and assisting in welding wire (spool) changes
  • Ability to perform job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and other departmental operations
  • Knowledge of minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures
  • Willingness to record measurements and perform documentation/charting of production data
  • Ability to clean and maintain welding tools (e.g., torch tips, nozzles, conducts/lines, helmet lenses)
  • Commitment to schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity per SOPs
  • Participation in team activities, problem-solving sessions, and communication of issues/solutions
  • Adherence to processes and procedures as written
  • Troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Ability to train, instruct, and assist other operators
  • Capacity to move parts/stock to/from workstations, racks, and holding areas, including racking/un-racking

Responsibilities

  • Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts; make repairs when necessary
  • Inspect for weld spatter, burn-thru, and other visible weld defects; remove or repair as needed
  • Use oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder as required
  • Check completed work per job instructions and print specifications
  • Properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds; load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes
  • Perform all job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products, and other operations in the department
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures
  • Record measurements as required
  • Clean and change torch tips and nozzles; clean conducts or lines with solvent; clean or change helmet lenses as necessary
  • Report labor
  • Move completed parts to designated areas; move stock to and from workstations, stock racks, and holding areas; rack and un-rack parts
  • Ensure schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity per SOPs
  • Maintain both quality and quantity of work
  • Participate in team activities and problem-solving sessions
  • Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team members
  • Follow processes and procedures as written
  • Document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback, and production scheduling
  • Troubleshoot problems and repair when necessary
  • Train, instruct, and assist other operators in their duties as required
