Virtualization Engineer

As a Virtualization Engineer, you will be a critical part of our team, supporting Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. You will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, and more. Your role will involve designing and building virtual environments, implementing process improvements, and maintaining VMware vSphere infrastructure. You will also analyze user requirements, develop system architecture, and interact with the Government regarding technical considerations.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in a relevant field.
- Education: High School Diploma.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM).
- Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Knowledge of configuring virtual switches and VLANs.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
Responsibilities
- Design and build virtual environment service models (Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service).
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications (automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability).
- Designs, implements, and maintains VMware vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN.
- Analyze user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
- Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
- Develops system architecture and system design documentation.
- Interact with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
- Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
