Requirements
Candidates must possess a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in cardiology or a related field, a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (multi-state/compact preferred), and Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification specific to cardiology from a recognized certifying body such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB). Experience working as a nurse practitioner in an outpatient, clinical cardiology setting (3+ years’ experience and telehealth preferred) is required, along with certification in ACLS.
Responsibilities
The Cardiology NP will conduct thorough patient assessments via telehealth visits, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests to evaluate cardiovascular health and identify cardiac conditions. They will formulate differential diagnoses and develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests. The role involves managing chronic cardiovascular conditions remotely, monitoring patient progress, and adjusting treatment plans. Cardiology NPs will also educate patients and their families about cardiovascular diseases, provide counseling, collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals, participate in research and quality improvement initiatives, maintain accurate patient records, and serve as a patient advocate.
