Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Upon hire, complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) Training
Ability to extensively walk and stand for much of the workday, including long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold)
Ability to exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs of force, up to an occasional 50lbs of force)
Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team
Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling
Excellent time management skills to complete work orders
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers
Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
Excellent attention to detail for problem solving

Responsibilities

Disconnect and reconnect gas utility services at commercial and residential customer sites by driving from site to site
Verify correct customer address and meter for gas services
Read gas meters, record values, and report possible tampering
Turn off gas service for non-payment or per customer request
Place locking devices on gas meter shut off valves
Relight pilot lights
Check for potential abnormal operating conditions
Disconnect and reconnect water utility services at commercial and residential customer sites by driving from site to site
Verify correct customer address and meter for water services
Read water meters, record values, and report possible tampering
Turn off water service for non-payment or per customer request
Turn on water service for payment or new customers
Place locking devices on water meter shut off valves
Inspect and report unsafe meter installations and other safety hazards during disconnect/reconnect processes
Meet standards for safety and quality while driving, parking, and performing disconnects (participate in safety meetings)
Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures (wear assigned personal protective equipment & company uniform)
