Requirements

  • Ability to operate cash registers and related hardware using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold
  • Knowledge of maintaining merchandise presentation, including stocking, rotating, removing damaged/out-of-date goods, setting up displays, signing, pricing, and securing merchandise
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures for handling claims, returns, merchandising functions (e.g., pricing, creating signs, verifying on-hands), identifying shrink/damages, ensuring safe work environment, and completing paperwork
  • Skills in monitoring and resolving prescription fulfillment issues, including processing third-party insurance claims, rescanning images, alerting patients to out-of-stock items/partial fills/physician authorizations, and identifying pharmacist-needed actions
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal laws and corporate policies for providing pharmacy products/services, assisting pharmacists, processing claims/rejections, and handling documentation
  • Capability to provide patient/member service, including acknowledging members, identifying needs, initiating prescription fulfillment, promoting products, resolving issues, assisting with purchases, locating OTC merchandise, and maintaining safe environment
  • Proficiency in entering prescription data into pharmacy software, including reading prescriptions, translating to system codes, transcribing data (e.g., date, drug name, strength, directions, refills, physician details, DEA number), and managing patient records
  • Experience in filling prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting/pouring/measuring/weighing medications, mixing/reconstituting, selecting/filling/labeling containers, and using scanning/automated systems for accuracy
  • Ability to assist at prescription pickup by verifying/entering patient info into TaSCO, marking prescriptions, retrieving bags, scanning tags, gathering signatures (HIPAA/third-party), and logging restricted items
  • Competence in completing work assignments using policies/data/resources, collaborating with others, prioritizing tasks, communicating progress, adapting to change, and complying with ethics/integrity standards

Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking/rotating merchandise/supplies, removing damaged/out-of-date goods, setting up/cleaning/organizing displays, signing/pricing merchandise, and securing fragile/high-shrink items
  • Maintain the pharmacy area per company policies by handling claims/returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising (e.g., pricing, signs, verifying on-hands, arranging supplies), identifying shrink/damages, ensuring safe environment, and completing/retaining paperwork
  • Monitor/resolve problems in prescription fulfillment by processing third-party insurance claims, rescanning illegible images, alerting patients to out-of-stock/partial fills/physician authorizations, and identifying pharmacist actions
  • Promote/maintain pharmacy's professional reputation and provide products/services per laws/policies by assisting pharmacist in fulfillment, processing claims/rejections, assisting with orders/purchases, and handling documentation
  • Provide patient/member service by acknowledging members, identifying needs, initiating fulfillment at drop-off, creating orders, promoting products/services, resolving issues, assisting purchases, locating OTC items, and maintaining safe environment
