Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (USA)
- Knowledge of pharmacy processing procedures, inventory control, and pill cell performance
- Familiarity with local, state, federal laws, corporate policies, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations
- Ability to enter prescription data into pharmacy software, translate prescriptions, and manage patient records
- Skills in identifying/selecting pharmaceuticals, verifying products, counting/measuring medications, mixing/reconstituting, labeling, and packaging
- Proficiency in troubleshooting prescription fulfillment issues, third-party insurance claims, reject codes, and coordinating with insurance/IT
- Commitment to maintaining integrity, ethics, compliance, and Walmart values
- Team-oriented with strong communication, relationship-building, mentoring, and inclusivity skills
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (pharmaceuticals/supplies) through adherence to control procedures, auditing, testing, database management, troubleshooting, hazardous waste disposal, and handling recalls/expired stock
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading/translating prescriptions, transcribing data (drug name, strength, directions, prescriber info), and creating/modifying patient records
- Promote pharmacy's reputation and deliver services in compliance with laws/policies by assisting pharmacists, stocking/rotating merchandise, handling claims/returns, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe/clean environment
- Comply with Medicare/Medicaid by implementing regulations, staying updated on changes, researching for accurate processing, and documenting audits
- Fulfill home delivery/specialty prescriptions by selecting products/quantities, verifying size/strength, counting/measuring/mixing medications, entering expiration/lot numbers, labeling, packaging, and distributing
- Monitor/resolve prescription fulfillment problems (e.g., systems, insurance, stock issues) by determining root causes, coordinating with insurers/IT, reprocessing claims, alerting patients, and escalating to pharmacists
