Requirements
- Ability to enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions, translating information into system codes, and transcribing data (e.g., date, drug name, strength, directions, refills, prescriber details, DEA number) while creating/modifying patient records
- Knowledge of local, state, federal laws, corporate policies, and procedures for delivering pharmacy products/services, assisting pharmacists, stocking/rotating merchandise, handling claims/returns, and maintaining documentation/safe environment
- Compliance with Medicare/Medicaid policies, including processing orders, staying updated on changes, researching for accuracy, and documenting audits
- Skills in fulfilling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision in Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy: identifying/selecting products, verifying size/strength, counting/measuring/weighing/mixing medications, entering expiration/lot numbers, labeling, packaging, and distributing
- Adherence to inventory control procedures: documentation, auditing, testing equipment (e.g., pill cells), managing databases, troubleshooting, handling hazardous waste/recalls/expired stock/returns
- Ability to monitor/resolve prescription fulfillment issues: root cause analysis, insurance claim coordination, interpreting reject codes, reprocessing claims, alerting patients, coordinating with IT/pharmacists
- Capacity to complete assignments using policies/data/resources, collaborate with teams, prioritize tasks, communicate progress, adapt to change, and identify improvements
- Compliance with company policies, ethics, Open Door Policy, Respect the Individual principles
Responsibilities
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software and manage patient records
- Promote pharmacy's reputation and deliver products/services per laws/policies by assisting pharmacists, stocking/rotating supplies, handling claims/returns, maintaining documentation, and ensuring safe/clean environment
- Comply with Medicare/Medicaid rules: process orders accurately, stay updated on policies, research/process claims, document audits
- Fulfill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision: select products/quantities, verify details, prepare medications (count/measure/mix/label/package), distribute
- Maintain inventory quality/accuracy: follow control procedures, audit/test equipment, manage databases, troubleshoot, handle waste/recalls/expired stock/returns
- Monitor/resolve fulfillment problems: analyze root causes, handle insurance issues/rejections, reprocess claims, communicate with patients/IT/pharmacists
- Complete work assignments/priorities: collaborate, identify deadlines, communicate, recommend improvements, adapt to feedback/change
- Adhere to company policies, ethics, and standards in all business processes
