Requirements

  • 1+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Working knowledge of US Casualty lines of business (Workers’ Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability) including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks etc
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions
  • Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and service an existing renewal book and assist other team members
  • Interact with brokerage community to ensure proper servicing of renewals and solicit new business opportunities
  • Analyze and evaluate risk; accept, reject, or modify risk and coverage conditions within delegated authority and underwriting guidelines to achieve profitability objectives
  • Underwrite complex standard and non-standard products, new and renewals, including Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability primary Casualty product lines
  • Determine pricing modifications based on loss experience and evaluate complex exposures
  • Communicate risk appetite and AIGRM Value Proposition to brokers
  • Evaluate risk and give approval or declination for quotes
  • Review new distribution opportunities, identify new business relationships, manage pipeline of opportunities, and collaborate with region to pursue them
  • Review difficult accounts to ensure accurate and timely issuance
  • Assist in training and development of Associate Underwriters and Underwriting Analysts while providing mentorship
  • Explain rationale behind underwriting decisions
  • Generate new business and provide underwriting guidance and appropriate rates for alternate plans at renewal
  • Make independent sales calls to market and cross-market products
  • Refer declined business to other AIG divisions as appropriate
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Travel to broker/client meetings to serve as AIGRM product expert and identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Perform special requests for clients, such as business plan changes or analyzing new agreements
