Requirements

  • Chemical / Environmental / Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience with the design and supporting the sale of water and/or wastewater equipment and systems (clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, metals removal, biological)
  • Experienced Design Engineer in Biological Wastewater Treatment Systems (WWT)
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in project execution
  • Familiarity and experience with water treatment plant commissioning and start-up
  • Fluent English written and verbal communication skills
  • People relating attitude and capable to work in team
  • Strong commercial mindset and financial acumen
  • Synthesis and pragmatic approach
  • Able to manage conflict and job-related pressure

  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% of time

Responsibilities

  • Support Development of Total Water Management (TWM) opportunities: partner with Senior Design Engineer to provide project engineering support (develop mass balance, process flow sheets, prepare proposals & estimates (CAPEX/OPEX), provide technical/commercial support at client meetings)
  • Build long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their key business drivers
  • Functionally report in the Commercial Engineering organization to the TWM Engineering Manager and have regular contact with direct supervisor
  • Be competent in a wide range of water treatment process technologies and design water treatment systems (prepare mass balance, flow sheet, water mapping, select equipment and costing, prepare documents to support commercial discussion)
  • Be familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, General Arrangement, Isometric sketches, data sheets, troubleshooting list, electrical and automation drawings, etc.)
  • Analyze water and wastewater systems from a mechanical, operational and chemical standpoint and propose solutions that comply with customer needs and the regulatory framework
  • Proactively work with clients and Ecolab/Nalco colleagues to determine project needs, identify customer needs by evaluating business models specific to wastewater and pretreatment operations, and develop project specifications
  • Supervise and/or take over on-site survey, conception and basic design ensuring the best technical and economical compromise between OPEX and CAPEX
  • Utilize technical expertise and financial acumen to support project qualification and wisely use time and resources on projects with the highest probability of success
  • On a project base, ensure fit with available budget for each part of the project, discuss problems (engineering, partners, fabricants) with Peers/Manager during project execution, and improve construction methods
  • Communicate with many levels of personnel within Nalco Company and external (Customer, Contractors)
  • Maintain customer relationships and coordinate to address technical/business issues and renewals within sold O&M accounts
  • Assist on existing O&M contracts for troubleshooting, diagnostic, and improvements
