Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3-5 years truck driving experience
  • Class A CDL with no restrictions and an active medical card
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Availability for long hours including working weekends and nights

Responsibilities

  • Drives commercial combination truck requiring a class A CDL between local facilities (longer trips may be required)
  • Inspects trucks per DOT regulations and completes daily inspection sheets
  • Maintains log sheets per DOT regulations
  • Performs minor maintenance to the commercial trucks and trailers as required
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
  • Hooks and unhooks trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules
  • Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
  • Opens containers, using steel cutters, grinder, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
  • Cleans trucks on a pre-scheduled basis
  • Adds diesel fuel to the trucks at a designated location
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor
