Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field
Minimum of 8-10 years' total industry experience (Principal level); minimum of 18+ years' total industry experience directly in transmission siting or related field (Staff level)
4-6 years' experience as a Transmission Line Siting Specialist Sr or equivalent (preferred for Principal level)
Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication, and time management skills
Ability to present to senior leadership on complex siting issues and lead a team to a successful solution
Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments
Extensive knowledge in siting of transmission lines
Leadership skills and experience mentoring and supervising staff
Professional licenses and memberships encouraged
Deep understanding of environmental (cultural, natural, and visual resource assessment), utility corridor siting (utility regulatory requirements, stakeholder interaction, and permitting requirements), and project management
Responsibilities
Ensure transmission siting activities are performed in accordance with company policies, practices, standards, and federal, state, or local regulatory requirements
Oversee outsourcing related to siting and regulatory approvals of transmission lines and substations
Work interdependently with a multidisciplinary project team to identify buildable, cost-effective routes and facilities that minimize environmental impacts; act as liaison with key team members
Prepare and provide technical edits for complex environmental assessments and siting studies (written documentation) for transmission facility projects
Prepare formal regulatory and local zoning applications and provide quality reviews
Develop and monitor schedules to complete siting tasks; manage identified risks and cost estimates
Participate in stakeholder meetings and public open houses
Support preparing testimony and testify before federal, state, and local agencies concerning transmission routing and substation siting
Work autonomously and mentor younger team members
Improve regional standardization and siting process development
