Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience
15 years full-time education
Strong hands-on experience with Solaris 10/11 administration (Must have: Oracle Solaris)
Knowledge of ZFS, Zones, LDOMs, and SMF (Service Management Facility)
Experience in patch management, jumpstart/AI provisioning, and firmware upgrades
Familiarity with Veritas Volume Manager / Cluster (VCS) preferred
Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, NTP, and routing basics
Experience with backup tools (NetBackup, TSM, or similar)
Scripting skills in Shell, Perl, or Python for automation
Experience working in ITIL-based environments (Change, Incident, Problem Management)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Effective communication and coordination with global teams
Proactive approach to issue prevention and process improvement
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Responsibilities

Resolve incidents and problems across multiple business system components and ensure operational stability
Create and implement Requests for Change (RFC) and update knowledge base articles to support effective troubleshooting
Collaborate with vendors and help service management teams with issue analysis and resolution
Perform installation, configuration, and administration of Solaris on SPARC
Manage user accounts, file systems, NFS, and ZFS configurations
Handle system patching, kernel upgrades, and firmware maintenance
Monitor system performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks
Administer zones, LDOMs, and virtualization environments
Perform root cause analysis for incidents and contribute to problem management
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Network, Storage, Application, DBA) for issue resolution
Ensure compliance with IT security and change management policies
Support disaster recovery activities, system migrations, and automation initiatives
Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change records
