Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business and/or rehabilitation or health related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in claims management or a statutory benefits system
  • Strong working knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and associated regulations
  • Knowledge of the WorkSafe Victoria claims management model

Responsibilities

  • Ensure decisions are sound, fair, appropriate to individual claim circumstances, and sustainable
  • Determine ongoing entitlements and improve return to work outcomes for injured workers
  • Support case managers with expert advice on relevant legislation and guidelines for workers’ compensation claims
  • Provide ongoing training sessions to case managers on current laws and best practices
  • Clarify complex legal language and explain its application to specific claims (policy interpretation)
  • Review case files and offer constructive feedback to improve compliance and case outcomes
  • Keep the team informed about changes in legislation or industry guidelines impacting claims management
  • Assist with challenging cases by providing insights on legal implications and potential resolutions
  • Foster a collaborative environment and enhance the team’s understanding of the legal framework to ensure effective and compliant claims management
