Job Description: Systems Test Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

Develop and execute software tests to identify software problems for a driverless technology company. Duties may include building simulations for testing Autonomous Vehicle (AV) software stack to discover issues and act as a gate for software releases.

Responsibilities

  • Build simulations for testing AV software stack to discover issues and act as gating for software releases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science (DS) and Systems Engineering (SE) for designing gating/non-gating protocols to track existing issues and detect progression/regression in AV software in every release and PR merges.
  • Design and build solutions for generating complex simulation scenarios programmatically using Python and SQL to stress test the AV software.
  • Create test plans for new features and capabilities to validate AV software performance.
  • Build new tools and solutions for increasing the productivity of the Systems Testing team to improve the quality of company-wide testing deliverables.
  • Build solutions using existing simulation tools for automating the process of test creation based on the events observed on the road for specific problem areas to increase test coverage and reduce the time to test creation.
  • Collaborate with DS and SE teams to identify and devise the metrics required for measuring the performance of AV.
  • Triage and analyze test failures encountered and apply fixes to ensure testing quality standards are met.
  • Understand customer testing requirements and provide testing solutions.
  • Create simulation artifacts that allow accurate testing of the AV stack.
  • Document and track deliverables in JIRA for efficient cross-collaboration and leadership visibility.
  • Report issues/bugs in simulation tools to improve overall testing quality.
  • Work with the tooling team, providing required customer feedback and requirements to build quality tools for increased productivity.
  • Train users on test creation, execution, and analysis.
  • Review all tests used to verify a feature.
  • May telecommute.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3 years of work experience as a Systems Test Engineer, Software Engineer, Software Test Engineer, or a related occupation.
  • Background/Skills:
    • Developing Automated Pipelines for Test Creation, Maintenance, and Reporting using object-oriented programming.
    • SQL and BigQuery.
    • Developing Robot Operating System (ROS) using Python programming.
    • Mathematical Modeling.
    • Data Science/Machine learning and applications.
    • Building Test Automation Framework.
    • Systems Testing.

Compensation

  • Expected Base Compensation: $162,400.00 - $205,000.00 Annually.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
