Candidates must be a Certified Flagger Instructor or Trainer with certification from a recognized organization such as ATSSA, NSC, or a state DOT, and actively train flaggers. A minimum of 3-5 years of real-world field experience as a flagger, crew lead, or site supervisor on roadwork or infrastructure projects is required. Deep knowledge of Work Zone Safety Protocols, including MUTCD standards, PPE requirements, flagging signals, signage, and spacing, is essential. Familiarity with federal (OSHA), state, and local regulations governing traffic control and jobsite safety is also necessary. Experience with Workforce Development or Union Training, including training adult learners in union halls or apprenticeship programs, is desired. Strong technology skills, particularly with virtual reality products, and analytical skills regarding VR's educational potential are beneficial. Excellent people and communication skills, both written and oral, are required, along with the ability to communicate with both senior leaders and less technical audiences.
The Subject Matter Expert will provide consultative guidance in the design of immersive content and support materials for simulation-based career exploration and training products. Responsibilities include creating authentic task simulations, providing guidance to designers during the exploratory and review phases, and creating task analyses with media references. The expert will ensure desired industry outcomes are understood and achieved, and evaluate product deliverables for alignment with industry standards, regulations, and customer expectations. They will also identify and propose simulation-based career exploration and training opportunities from an industry perspective and advise on educational program evaluation, including design, process improvement, performance measurement, and educational effectiveness.
