Job Description: Staff Technical Program Manager - Identity and Access Management

Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation, a non-profit-backed technology company, has been dedicated to improving the internet for over 25 years. We are the creators of pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-focused web browser. With over 225 million monthly users globally, we are actively shaping the future of technology and advocating for an internet that prioritizes people over corporations. Our work spans diverse areas including AI, social media, and security, all while remaining committed to our core mission of enhancing the internet for everyone.

Mozilla Corporation is fully owned by the Mozilla Foundation, a 501(c) non-profit organization. This unique structure liberates us from shareholder demands, allowing us to focus solely on our mission. In collaboration with thousands of global volunteers and partners, Mozillians develop and distribute open-source software, empowering individuals to experience the internet on their own terms.

About this Team and Role

This position is part of the broader Mozilla Infrastructure Organization, which oversees critical horizontal functions including IT Services, Enterprise & Product Security, Cloud & Data Engineering, Ecosystem Services Engineering, and Infra TPM. Our team enables various capabilities across Mozilla entities, aligning with our mission and goals to build a safe and secure internet. The Infrastructure Organization is purpose-driven, influencing and shaping technical decisions with a strong, privacy-centric customer mindset.

This role specifically sits within the Infra TPM function, serving as the primary Technical Program Manager (TPM) for our Identity and Access Management (IAM) program. The IAM program encompasses both Enterprise IT and Product Platform services. The TPM will collaborate closely with IT, Cloud, and Security teams, and will also support other Infrastructure Organization initiatives based on organizational priorities and goals.

What You'll Do

We are seeking an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of our Identity and Access Management initiative. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of our IAM program. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Security, Cloud & Data Engineering, and IT, to ensure robust and secure identity, authentication, authorization, and access control capabilities across the Mozilla organization. If you are passionate about security, thrive in complex environments, and excel at balancing technical depth with senior leadership engagement, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and drive the overall IAM program roadmap, aligning with organizational goals and security standard processes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for IAM initiatives, ensuring clear communication of objectives, schedules, and progress to senior leadership and partners.
  • Continuously review industry trends, emerging technologies, and standard methodologies to enhance the IAM program.
  • Understand the technical requirements and needs (current and future) of Mozilla’s IAM system to identify dependencies and risks related to program delivery, and represent these to senior leadership and other teams.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with product & engineering managers, infrastructure teams, and security engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources (people, time, and scope) to ensure timely delivery of IAM features and enhancements.
  • Facilitate collaboration among engineering, operations, and security teams to remove roadblocks and optimize workflows, organizing project details in Jira and Confluence.

Technical Oversight

  • Facilitate and, where needed, contribute to defining standard service architecture designs, data flow call patterns, and API interfaces, working closely with domain-specific engineering teams.
