Staff Software Engineer - Partner Engineering

Position Overview

About the Role

Flex is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Partner Engineering organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in building out our payment integrations platform and user experiences. You will contribute to shaping the technical roadmap for the team, working across APIs, SDKs, and Web experiences. Collaboration will be key, as you'll work with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Design, Infrastructure, Sales, Partner, and Customer Success to deliver exceptional products. We expect you to be hands-on, execute tasks independently, and build products that offer flexibility as our offerings evolve.

Key Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with Java.
  • Proven experience leading the end-to-end delivery of multiple highly impactful products, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively aligning expectations on scope and delivery.
  • Ability to drive personal and team efforts to ensure code and architecture quality and consistency without sacrificing velocity.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that challenges you to perform at your best.
  • Experience working effectively within a globally distributed team with a high degree of ownership.
  • Experience in FinTech and familiarity with major payment rails.
  • Proficiency in Java frameworks and tools used at Flex, including Spring (core/web/boot), Gradle, JUnit, and JVM (memory/performance tuning, GC).
  • Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture, REST APIs, Message Queues, and scalable architectures.
  • Experience with AWS services (EKS, Aurora RDS, Elasticache, DynamoDB) and containerization tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams involving product, design, and engineering.
  • Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot), TypeScript (React.js/React Native).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines to enhance code stability and quality.
  • Experience with cloud and containerized environments (Bonus: AWS, Kubernetes, MySQL).
  • Comfortable working with IDEs such as VSCode, IntelliJ, XCode, and Android Studio.
  • Motivation to drive team effectiveness and engineering excellence.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.

  • For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $221,000 - $237,000.
  • For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $199,000 - $213,000.
