Candidates should have 10+ years of experience in software engineering, SRE, or security engineering roles, with significant experience operating security platform services. Strong backend software development experience in languages such as Go, Java, Rust, or Python is required, along with expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, service mesh, and container orchestration. A strong understanding of security domains including IAM, OAuth2, OIDC, PKI, secrets management, policy engines, audit pipelines, and zero trust architecture is necessary. Experience building highly reliable, observable, and resilient production systems, along with operational expertise in SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, on-call leadership, and incident management, is essential. Strong collaboration and communication skills to influence stakeholders are also required. Experience with SPIFFE/SPIRE, OPA/Gatekeeper, Envoy, Istio, workload identity management, and security compliance frameworks like FedRAMP are considered advantageous.
The Staff 2 Security Platform Engineer will architect, build, and operate core security services for the company's cloud infrastructure and product platforms. This includes designing highly scalable security services such as authentication, authorization, identity, secrets management, and policy enforcement, while ensuring system reliability, observability, and resilience. Responsibilities also involve building automation and tooling for self-healing systems and proactive risk detection, collaborating with compliance and governance teams to implement technical controls, and leading technical design and security architecture reviews. The role requires owning the end-to-end delivery of services, from design and development through deployment and maintenance, and mentoring other engineers on security and operational best practices.
