Requirements

Candidates must have 7+ years of backend software engineering experience, including staff-level or tech lead roles, and a proven ability to design and scale distributed systems for millions of real-time or gaming users. Strong proficiency in backend languages like Go, Python, Node.js, or Java is required, along with deep knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, message queues, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP). Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus, as are excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills, and a strong product mindset.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Engineer will design and build core backend systems for fantasy sports and DFS offerings, architecting scalable, distributed systems for millions of concurrent users with low latency and high availability. They will lead backend initiatives from concept to deployment, optimize system performance, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and frontend teams. Additionally, the engineer will mentor other engineers, provide code reviews, shape backend engineering best practices, and drive innovation and technical direction.
