Requirements

  • Academic background in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related engineering fields
  • Ph.D with 1-2 years or MS with 4+ years of experience in wafer fab processes (experience in thin film magnetic head is a plus)
  • Familiar with thin film deposition processes (PVD, CVD, IBD, etc.) and equipment
  • Solid background on correlation of process and equipment hardware
  • Deep understanding of material characterization techniques (knowledge of magnetic material process and characterization is a plus)
  • Knowledge of DOE and data analysis using JMP
  • Understanding of SPC
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership and communication skills, and good team player
  • Self-motivated with good project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead thin-film deposition manufacture process team to sustain the production line, monitor processes and equipment to ensure minimal deviations, meeting quality and quantity specifications
  • Develop and optimize process control methods and procedures to guarantee quality and prevent damage excursions
  • Improve processes in sigma, cycle time, throughput, defects, and cost of ownership
  • Perform wafer failure analysis, troubleshooting, and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Collaborate with cross-function teams on projects to improve overall product yield and element yield
  • Collaborate with integration, research and development, and other modules on new product development and transfer into production lines
  • Evaluate novel equipment to meet process requirements for future generation products
  • Drive project planning, execution, summary, presentation, and delivery on time
  • Set up and improve automation systems and working instruction documents; provide training instructions to operators
  • Work with Characterization, Reliability, and Failure Analysis teams to develop test methodologies, understand failure modes, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Work with Program, Modeling Process, and Characterization teams to understand product requirements, define development targets, and plans
  • Provide engineering support to thin film deposition processes in manufacturing lines to meet objectives with high quality, high productivity, and low cost products, and support development of future generation products
