Requirements

Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proficiency with 3D CAD software, including modeling and creation of detailed drawings
Extensive mechanical design experience developing production ready machine and/or designs from basic ideas and concepts, including starting from a ‘blank sheet’
Proven ability to solve complex technical problems by breaking them down into simpler pieces and executable tasks
Extensive knowledge of mechanical components, common engineering metals, plastics, joining methods, part fabrication methods, and finishing operations
Extensive experience optimizing manufacturability of assemblies using DFM/DFA principles
Experience transferring designs to external suppliers and contract manufacturers for production
Experience designing and building automated production machinery
Industrial experience developing robot EOATs, work cell fixtures, or material handling systems
Working knowledge of GD&T standards
6-8+ years experience mechanical design engineering

Responsibilities

High level ownership of system design of machine and robotic design
Lead concept ideation phases with strong fundamentals
Detailed CAD work
Investigation of applicable technologies and components
Prototyping, testing, and iterating designs
Generation of supporting design documentation
Oversight in a transition to production manufacturing for completed design
Responsible for analysis of designs including deflections, tolerance stack ups, load capacity, and material compatibility
Responsibilities may also include controls and actuator sizing, interfacing, integration, and testing
