  • Expertise in materials, manufacturing, and design best practices for Closures systems (preference for aluminum or composite design)
  • Experience with Closures hardware and mechanisms such as hinges, handles, latches, locks, and kinematic requirements
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills for a hands-on engineering role
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (e.g., Safety, Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing, Design Studio, Testing, CAE, Purchasing, Quality, Suppliers)
  • Proficiency in managing CAD models, drawings, tolerance stacks using GD&T, and BOMs with focus on fit, finish, and assembly robustness
  • Ability to create testing plans, conduct/coordinate physical tests, and interpret analysis results
  • Capability to perform detailed analysis of section properties, materials, and manufacturing processes through benchmarking
  • Experience coordinating virtual engineering and physical validation testing
  • Ability to provide direction to others, negotiate balanced solutions, and communicate effectively with suppliers
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Can-do attitude with vigor, determination, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate Closures systems (e.g., entry doors, cargo doors, charging doors, sealing systems, structural parts, assemblies) from concept through production
  • Design optimized systems and components for performance, size, weight, durability, and cost to meet vehicle requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to integrate multiple systems efficiently
  • Work with stakeholders and attribute owners (e.g., Safety, Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing, Design Studio) to create world-class designs
  • Collaborate with Testing and CAE teams, interpreting analysis results to guide design evolution
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure efficient process sequence and build quality
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Design, Product Development, Purchasing, Quality, and Suppliers on tool buy-offs and secondary component changes
  • Create testing plans and conduct/coordinate physical tests to prove design concepts and achieve performance targets
  • Perform detailed analysis of section properties, materials, and manufacturing processes via benchmarking
  • Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities
  • Coordinate and communicate with interfacing suppliers
  • Provide direction to others and negotiate balanced solutions
  • Manage CAD models, drawings, tolerance stacks using GD&T, and BOMs
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required
