Requirements

Candidates should possess 12+ years of engineering experience with a strong focus on system design and at least 1.5 years of experience building production-grade LLM applications. Expertise in Python for AI/ML development, familiarity with Node.js, and deep experience with vector databases such as Pinecone or Weaviate are required. Proficiency in prompt engineering, LLM API integration, system reliability patterns, and observability tooling for AI systems is also necessary. A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience implementing research and algorithms in Python, specifically in information retrieval, text processing, NLP, LLMs, and machine learning, is essential. Bonus qualifications include experience with RAG implementations, agentic workflows, LangChain/CrewAI, cost tracking and optimization for AI/LLM infrastructure, pre-LLM ML/deep learning experience, and multimodal system exposure.

Responsibilities

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for designing and deploying advanced LLM-powered applications to support Payroll product lines and operations. They will lead architecture decisions, cost optimization, and observability efforts for mission-critical AI workflows. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with ML researchers, product managers, and application engineers to create significant impact through groundbreaking work in a high-scale product.
