Requirements

Candidates must have a BS or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience. They should possess 7+ years of industry data science experience, strong Python skills for data analysis (pandas, Jupyter Notebook), and proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries on large datasets. A strong background in inferential statistics, particularly in experimentation (hypothesis testing, power analysis, experimental design), is essential. Experience with data analytics and BI tools like Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or Snowflake, as well as big data technologies such as Spark, is required. Experience with machine learning, excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The Staff Data Scientist will extract actionable insights from broad, open-ended questions, and design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product changes. They will analyze data to uncover the root causes of metric movements and communicate results to cross-functional stakeholders to inform product decisions. Responsibilities also include developing tools to scale and automate analyses, providing mentorship and guidance to team members, identifying and recommending best practices, and applying an engineering mindset to minimize complexity while maximizing utility and maintainability. The role involves devising ML solutions for recommendations, spam detection, and user experience improvements.
