Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with significant experience in cloud architecture, large-scale migrations, and/or building private cloud platforms
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware components (CPU, memory, storage, networking) and their direct influence on private cloud design, performance, and capacity planning, and knowledge of virtual networking principles and applications
  • Deep practical experience within AWS, including a strong grasp of core services and resource provisioning
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and Linux KVM hypervisor
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and architectural problem-solving skills focused on delivering stable, resilient, and highly-available internal platforms
  • (Preferred) Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a prototyping environment
  • (Preferred) Ability to analyze systems and optimize balancing both cost and performance

Responsibilities

  • Actively participating in the design, engineering, and build-out of a new, scalable, in-house private cloud environment
  • Partnering closely with architecture and development teams to identify, analyze, and resolve technical challenges related to compatibility, performance, and scaling during the platform build and migration
  • Utilizing expertise in server and hardware principles to build, optimize, and manage the core virtualization layer, ensuring maximum system performance and cost-efficiency within the private cloud
  • Ensuring the high reliability and performance of Linux-based services, with deep, hands-on knowledge of the Linux KVM hypervisor and its role in an enterprise private cloud stack
  • Communicating effectively with both engineering and non-technical personnel while providing technical leadership and guidance to the infrastructure team, contributing to the creation of platform documentation, standards, and best practices
