Requirements

4+ years of experience in accounting, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, and bookkeeping
Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP knowledge preferred)
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
Comfortable working fully onsite in Norfolk, VA daily

Responsibilities

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all entries
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Support financial statement preparation and internal reporting
Maintain accurate and organized accounting files and documentation
Assist with audits and respond to inquiries as needed
Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial data flow and accuracy
