About the Role: Brevity is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer - Team Lead. This role will initially involve working as an individual contributor to gain a deep understanding of the architecture and stack, ship new features, and become familiar with the product and team. As the role progresses, you will assume greater responsibility for the architecture and delivery process, ultimately leading the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and deploy product features across the following technology stack:
    • AWS
    • Kubernetes
    • Postgres (RDS)
    • Redis
    • SQS
    • Lambda
    • DynamoDB
  • Utilize the following technologies:
    • Python/Django
    • React, Tailwind / Material-UI
  • Integrate with subprocessors (refer to: https://trust.brevitypitch.com)
  • Evolve system architecture to ensure performance, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency, anticipating a 10x increase in usage within the next 12 months.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Gradually mentor and manage the engineering team by:
    • Conducting daily standups
    • Resolving team blockers
    • Leading architectural design reviews
    • Managing delivery timelines
    • Identifying areas for team improvement
    • Providing constructive feedback
  • Estimate and communicate delivery timelines to Product, Customer Success (CS), and Sales teams.
  • Monitor and resolve production outages, security vulnerabilities, and ensure SOC 2 compliance.
  • Provide technical support to CS & Sales teams as required.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding processes, and shaping the engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Recent Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Lead Software Engineer within an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Last 6 Months:
    • Proven track record of shipping your own Pull Requests (PRs).
    • Experience developing both back-end and front-end microservices, with successful integration with Cloud Services.
  • Technical Skills (Preferred):
    • Python/Django

    • Redis or Elasticache

    • DynamoDB
  • Leadership Experience: At least 3 years of experience leading the development of Enterprise SaaS applications.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct Architectural Design Reviews or Product Roadmap Updates with business stakeholders.
  • Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading the development of conversational AI products.
  • Experience scaling an engineering team from seed stage through Series-B funding.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance requirements.
