Job Description

Position Overview

CrowdStrike is a global leader in cybersecurity, protecting the people, processes, and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission has been to stop breaches, and we have redefined modern security with the world's most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large-scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day, with this traffic growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe, and their lives moving forward. We are a mission-driven company cultivating a culture that gives every CrowdStriker flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We are always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation, and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community, and each other. The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About the Role

As a Senior+ contributor on the Core Platform Team, you will have bottom-up ownership of our codebase and a far-reaching edict for service resiliency. Several key feature additions and critical re-architecture initiatives are underway, including improvements to core libraries and platform services, observability tooling (tracing, profiling, alerting, SLOs, etc.), and automation to reduce manual toil. Recently, we introduced adaptive concurrency to our core Kafka library, implementing flow control to protect database performance, and are presently making large-scale automations around how we build new clouds.

Our overarching goals include building the next-generation infrastructure and security platform for CrowdStrike, encompassing an application and service delivery platform, massively scalable distributed data storage and replication systems, and a cutting-edge search and distributed graph system. You will help us scale CrowdStrike’s infrastructure and products to handle massive growth in traffic and data as we continue to experience dramatic growth in product usage.

Crowdstrike Falcon is THE industry standard in cloud-native cybersecurity and threat hunting, processing Trillions of events/day. You’ll be positioned for optimal widespread impact with bottom-up ownership of our core codebase, driving architectural choices that affect every feature development team and providing shared architectural components to be leveraged throughout the Falcon Platform (e.g., Unified Search, Protobuf libraries, and other shared-tier architectural components).

If you are a math-brained or algorithmic thinker who loves optimization at its core, this role is for you. You will be thrown headfirst into our core codebase to push the capabilities of our platform and drive optimizations for the entire product’s architecture.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain services to meet reliability and scalability demands.
  • Develop and enhance monitoring services.
  • Extend and build new libraries for cross-cutting concerns that comprise/extend to the entirety of CrowdStrike's cloud platform, which consists of hundreds of libraries and services.
  • Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and stability.
  • Use and give back to the open-source community.
  • Evangelize best practices for building software, especially as pertains to Go.
  • Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.
  • Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team.
  • Mentor other developers on web, backend, and data storage technologies and our system.
  • Update OSS dependencies as needed.
  • Be mentored and mentor other developers on web security, authentication, and authorization strategies.
  • Be an energetic ‘self-starter’ with the ability to take ownership.
