Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Oversight Director for its General Medicine Nephrology Clinical Trials Team. This role, hired at either a Director (D) or Senior Director (Sr. D) level depending on experience, is crucial for managing and overseeing global clinical trials in NEPHROLOGY indications. Extensive experience in this specific area is a mandatory requirement and must be clearly demonstrated on your resume.

As part of our PPD® clinical research services, you will direct, coordinate, and manage the technical and operational aspects of projects, ensuring the successful completion of clinical trials. You will collaborate with functional area leads to identify and address critical issues and implement solutions, contributing to the delivery of life-changing therapies.


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for strategic indication or client-specific portfolio management within a Therapeutic Unit.
  • Provides therapeutic expertise in project delivery execution, reacting quickly and appropriately to escalations.
  • Provokes critical thinking in Project Leads regarding delivery operations, financial negotiations, and risk mitigation/issue management.
  • Drives overall strategy development for proposals and pre-proposal opportunities.
  • Expertly navigates situations, ensuring Project Leads remain empowered while providing necessary oversight.
  • Provides insight into proposal strategy in preparation for bid defense.
  • Works with the Therapeutic Unit Head in developing business growth strategies.
  • Maintains awareness and engages appropriately in the Change of Control (Con Mod) process.
  • Communicates with People Managers to support employee development, providing expertise and perspective related to client needs, indication, and therapeutic knowledge.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.

Experience

  • Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10-12+ years).
  • 5+ years of management responsibility.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Extensive experience managing/overseeing global clinical trials in NEPHROLOGY indications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive therapeutic area knowledge, clinical development guidelines, directives, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Expert knowledge of the key principles of cross-functional project management (Time, Quality, Cost).
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
