Requirements

  • Experience providing onsite site operations leadership for labs or research facilities
  • Knowledge of Lilly policies, Chinese/local regulations, and HSE standards for lab operations
  • Ability to hold and manage site-level permits and certificates (e.g., Hazardous Chemical, Occupational Health, Equipment Safety, Biosafety)
  • Capability to act as primary contact for external government agencies and authorities on lab inquiries, permits, and compliance (e.g., EIA, fire)
  • Skills in supervising vendor/supplier programs and staff for facilities management, lab services, soft services, security, and HSE
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement with external licensees and supporting operational/regulatory needs
  • Ability to oversee Business Continuity Plans, Emergency Response plans, and roles like Emergency Coordinators and Fire Marshals
  • Proficiency in implementing quality procedures (SOPs), processes (workflows), metrics, and management control systems
  • Leadership to build a teamwork culture aligned with Lilly values

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite LRL Site Operations leadership to ensure effective running of LAL site and oversight of contractors (facilities management, lab services, soft services, security, HSE)
  • Ensure efficient site and lab operations support/services to enable scientists/engineers to innovate in a safe, secure environment
  • Accountable for LAL site compliance to Lilly policies and Chinese/local regulations for operations and HSE; provide updates/escalations to leadership
  • Collaborate with Lilly HSE on safety management, ensuring staff compliance with training, regulations, and policies
  • Oversee creation of Business Continuity Plans and Emergency Response plans; ensure Emergency Coordinators and Fire Marshals perform duties
  • Act as primary contact for external government agencies/authorities for lab inquiries and permits
  • Provide operations support to LGL Shanghai and Beijing sites, including stakeholder engagement with external licensees
  • Supervise vendor/supplier programs and staff for Facilities Management, Lab Services, Soft Services, and HSE
  • Deliver and manage a safe, secure, effective, compliant working environment at LAL
  • Implement and sustain management control systems using SOPs, workflows, and metrics
  • Focus on site operations excellence and build a teamwork culture exemplifying Lilly values
  • Hold site-level permits/certificates for lab operations and HSE
  • Implement and oversee Lilly corporate policies and practices at site
  • Identify/recommend solutions for Lab Operations goals, highlighting resource gaps
  • Lead establishment of laboratory support service requirements with stakeholders; implement, oversee, and improve programs
  • Oversee laboratory setup, redesigns, furniture/equipment moves, and equipment installations (ensuring utilities/safety requirements)
  • Serve as single point of contact for internal/external auditors across modalities (e.g., CAS)
