Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., mechanical integrity SMEs, Inspection Department, Tech Services, Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering)
  • Familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs, fixed equipment reliability special-emphasis programs (SEPs), and Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity (FEMI)
  • Participation in Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOPs), Process Safety Management (PSM) reviews, corporate Best Practice Teams, and TRC initiative teams

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering services for all Refinery Fixed Equipment for projects, maintenance, turnarounds, and complex technical assignments to ensure safety, reliability, and integrity
  • Guide and lead continuous improvement efforts, repairs, reliability, and mechanical integrity for the business team
  • Support business team on fixed equipment reliability, repairs, and asset management; provide horizontal technical support within Reliability & Inspection Department
  • Review and recommend immediate/temporary/permanent repairs for anomalies or deficiencies, including upgrades/replacements
  • Serve as a safety champion, ensuring compliance to critical safety requirements and participating in safety-related activities
  • Provide fixed equipment engineering coverage during unit upsets, outages, and troubleshooting; issue regular updates during shutdowns/startups
  • Set long-term equipment reliability goals, evaluate complex technical assessments, and develop structured approaches for asset integrity
  • Lead development of fixed equipment reliability strategies for refinery units and implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop critical equipment and bad actor lists; identify opportunities for fixed equipment and reliability improvements
  • Review technical and economic analysis of repairs to justify engineering improvements and priorities
  • Work with stakeholders on long-term reliability initiatives and fitness-for-service evaluations
  • Support site’s Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) program and fixed equipment reliability special-emphasis programs (SEPs)
  • Assist in development and review of site engineering standards and practices
  • Maintain effective communication across refinery groups (e.g., Inspection, Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering)
  • Predict failures with Inspections, Process Engineers, and Operations; proactively provide resolutions to reliability issues
  • Participate in corporate Best Practice Teams, TRC initiative teams, Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOPs), and PSM reviews
