This involves managing large Cassandra, Kafka, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch clusters and developing automation tooling.

As a Data Services Control Plane Senior Engineer, you will focus on designing and developing robust software solutions for distributed data platforms, writing clean, maintainable code primarily in Python and potentially Golang. This role emphasizes software development expertise within large-scale data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions for distributed data platforms.
  • Write production-quality code (primarily Python and potentially Golang) to build applications and APIs for infrastructure automation.
  • Develop and maintain microservices interacting with data platform components.
  • Create robust data processing pipelines for petabytes of security telemetry.
  • Implement software solutions for monitoring and optimizing performance across distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features.
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and service interfaces.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex software issues in production environments.
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests.
  • Use Chef for server and application deployment, configuration, and management.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot time-sensitive production issues.
  • Maintain an understanding of data components (Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka) to operate and automate clusters.
  • Work with Engineering to roll out new products and features.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and availability of petabytes of critical business data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in building production applications.
  • Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, MemGraph, or AWS Neptune.
  • Experience with API design and development, particularly REST.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and principles (SOLID, DRY, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques.
