Requirements

  • Management and supervisory experience with one or more employees, typically six or more direct reports, focused on tactical, operational, and some strategic activities
  • Experience managing a large team consisting of both experienced professionals and managers
  • Ability to turn department strategy into commercial reality by developing, communicating, and implementing business plans

Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and implements environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs in accordance with governmental requirements
  • Monitors pollution prevention activities, compliance, and auditing efforts (depending on position location)
  • Conducts studies and prepares environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permit changes
  • Reviews and analyzes environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies; collaborates with regulatory agencies to determine corrective action plans
  • Evaluates proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact
  • Interacts with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements and assists in regulatory audits
  • Represents the company in government and industry rule-making activities
  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where EHS hazards exist
  • Identifies and takes corrective action against activities posing potential threats to workers’ health or safety, including recommending organizational measures, inspecting workplaces, equipment, and practices, and investigating incidents
  • Provides/promotes employee awareness/training on EHS matters
  • Manages people, including mentoring, developing, and coaching staff; conducting performance reviews and 1:1s; managing performance toward goals; ensuring prioritization of strategic initiatives
  • Oversees area of responsibility, manages performance, develops talent, fosters engagement and inclusion, communicates business developments, plans, prioritizes, and directs responsibilities of direct reports
