Requirements

  • Experience leading category management for enterprise-wide global categories across multiple functions and groups with complex requirements
  • Ability to align category strategies with functional/business objectives and collaborate with Corporate Functions Leaders, Group and Divisions Presidents, Division Business Partners, R&D, and Business leaders
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing activities, supplier management, building organizational strength, creating sourcing strategies, negotiating agreements, managing strategic supplier relationships, and driving year-over-year savings
  • Proficiency in analyzing cross-groups/divisional spending to develop global strategic sourcing plans that reduce total cost of ownership without compromising quality and service levels
  • Knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, P&L performance, inventory, cash flow, and inflation to inform strategies
  • Experience applying AQSCIR (Assurance, Quality, Service, Cost, Innovation, Regulatory) method for 3-5 year global sourcing strategies
  • Skills in market intelligence assessment, predictive analytics, and risk mitigation recommendations
  • Capability to drive supplier consolidation and support Division Business Partners and Group Procurement Operations

Responsibilities

  • Connect key categories with all levels within Thermo Fisher business, divisions, and corporate functions to ensure alignment of strategies and financial targets with internal and external partners
  • Accountable for multi-year cluster/category strategies, plan objectives, timelines, and goals
  • Analyze cross-groups/divisional spending and develop global strategic sourcing plans to reduce total cost of ownership without compromising quality and service levels
  • Demonstrate measurable year-over-year reduction in total cost of ownership without compromising innovation, quality, and service levels
  • Provide thought leadership in developing and implementing sourcing strategies
  • Champion structured Category Management process, including diversity, sustainability, risk assessment, and business continuity
  • Communicate plans and progress to Enterprise colleagues
  • Run the contracting process and coordinate with Legal to document relationships
  • Lead supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply base management
  • Assess market intelligence for trends and use predictive analytics for risk mitigation recommendations
  • Drive supplier consolidation by engaging Division Business Partners and Group Procurement Operations to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend
  • Apply consistent project management approaches, identify/report roadblocks and variances, and ensure projects meet objectives
  • Lead the Global Sourcing Professional Services Team
  • Develop staff expertise in spending areas and strategic sourcing processes
  • Mentor staff and develop team training programs
