Requirements

Candidates should possess a strong background in statistical inference, observational causal inference, and applied machine learning modeling with at least 4 years of experience in data science or a related role. A degree in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science is required, with a Master's or PhD preferred. Proficiency in data wrangling and modeling in Python or R (e.g., Pandas, Polars, Tidyverse) and experience with large-scale data on cloud platforms like SageMaker, Kubeflow, Snowflake, or Databricks are essential. The ability to translate data insights into compelling narratives and visualizations that influence decision-making is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior Data Scientist will design models to measure and predict customer behavior, lifetime value, and marketplace health, impacting decision-making across multiple business verticals. Responsibilities include tackling complex marketplace problems, delivering insights to drive product strategy, and partnering with Product, Marketing, and Trust & Safety teams. The role involves owning data workflows end-to-end using Python, SQL, pandas, and Snowflake, and building/scaling models and analyses on platforms like AWS SageMaker, Hex, or Snowflake. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences to influence strategic decision-making.
