Requirements

  • Proficiency in Solidworks for creating mechanical and electrical designs from rough sketches, design concepts, verbal instructions, customer drawings, etc., with minimal engineering supervision
  • Experience in sheet metal design for product specifications
  • Ability to evaluate trade-offs between performance/functionality, quality, cost, and schedule
  • Knowledge of design factors such as ease of manufacture, interchangeability, weight, tolerance stack, and material availability
  • Capability to create complex assembly models, detailed drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerancing, new items, and BOMs in Solidworks
  • Willingness to travel limited (typically less than 5% per year, domestic and international)
  • Ability to work in an office and laboratory environment, including standing, walking, sitting, hearing, and talking

Responsibilities

  • Develop electro-mechanical systems in Solidworks for liquid cooling system products, owning the design through specification, design, build, and test processes
  • Select fittings, tubing, hardware, and other components; create all detail drawings
  • Collaborate with refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers throughout the full product development process from concept to production support
  • Debug build issues with the product and implement redlines into the design
  • Ensure the product’s enclosure and layout meets specification requirements, is manufacturable and serviceable, while delivering on schedule and budget
  • Actively manage risk mitigation efforts and ensure cost, performance, and schedule goals are achieved
  • Provide optional design approaches during preliminary stages
  • Follow established procedures, drive continuous improvement, and update procedures as necessary
  • Provide product support from early concept through development and production
