Requirements

Initial certification by National Board for Speech Language Pathology
Current Speech Therapy License from the State of Nevada
Willingness to work with children using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline (training provided if needed)
CPR and First Aid certifications
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide speech language pathology practice
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment

Responsibilities

Develops ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs
Completes initial evaluations and re-evaluations for patients; examines patient conditions, analyzes needs, determines need for therapy evaluation, and selects/administers appropriate assessment tools including MDTs
Prepares reports and attends multidisciplinary case meetings to decide and review continuing treatment
Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and agency policy; adheres to federal/state regulations and policies
Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure best practices and meet Nevada Licensure requirements
Participates in bi-monthly staff meetings and attends staff trainings
Manages case assignments as dictated by organizational needs in Early Intervention and outpatient clinic programs
Manages patients with different types of personalities
Interprets evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports reflecting strengths and barriers to client participation; directs program development and guides evidence-based intervention
Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision making
Performs other administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned
