3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration
Proven leadership skills through work experience (prior internship/co-ops a plus), campus involvement, and/or extracurricular activities
Strong communication, analytical, planning, and organizing skills
Self-motivated, as the nature of the internship requires independent work
Current student in a bachelor’s degree program in a wide range of majors, with Insurance & Risk Management students encouraged to apply
May 2027 graduate preferred
Responsibilities
Claims Operations: Working with the team to request medical canvases, work in the litigation database, set up new claims, and other operations team functions
Special Investigation Unit: Exposure to multiple claim functions, primarily working on Social Media Investigations and documentation
Reinsurance: Reinsurance reporting, analyzing reinsurance contracts, and other reinsurance responsibilities
Claim Resolution Services: Claim handling assignments and shadowing within the team including initial coverage analysis, first contact, investigation, and technical writing
Learn and perform functions utilizing the various claims systems, programs, and databases
Various reading assignments, self-study courses, case studies, and projects, on a diverse range of topics, providing a foundation of insurance knowledge and overall professional development
Participation in seminars and workshops, including Claims College and Great American University offerings
Networking: Participate in activities with other interns, employees, and leaders throughout the organization, attend lunch-and-learns, and participate in the organization-wide GAIG Summer Claim Intern Program
