Nationwide's Property and Casualty team is seeking an experienced electrical inspector to join their loss control team. This role focuses on inspecting commercial facilities to identify electrical fire risks and manage the infrared thermal imaging inspection program for farm and commercial agribusiness customers. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping people protect what matters most and innovating processes to provide customer value.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical work experience in a commercial setting, demonstrated by a work history as a:
    • Licensed commercial electrician
    • Commercial building electrical inspector
    • Infrared thermal imaging technician for mechanical/electrical applications
  • Extensive technical knowledge of electrical infrastructure in commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70).
  • Ability to consult with policyholders on best practices for managing electrical risk.
  • Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Designations:
    • Master or Journeyman level electrical license
    • Level I (or greater) Thermographer Certificate
    • Train-the-trainer certification for electrical safety (NFPA 70E) or ability to obtain within 1 year
    • Certified Electrical Inspector Certificate (CEI)

Education

  • Completion of a formal electricians training program or completion of a commercial electrical inspection training program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical inspections at policyholder facilities.
  • Author reports and issue risk improvement recommendations to impact loss experience.
  • Promote thermal imaging services to customers and distribution partners.
  • Manage Nationwide’s thermal imaging program across the loss control department.
  • Train internal loss control staff on thermal imaging applications and basic electrical safety.
  • Train distribution partners on camera usage for hardware purchased through Nationwide Affinity Programs.
  • Maintain the company inventory of thermal imaging cameras.
  • Perform infrared thermal imaging surveys at customer facilities.
  • Assess situations and make recommendations to improve safety practices.
  • Develop relationships with customers and perform survey work to evaluate property and casualty exposures.
  • Recommend improvements to decrease risk.
  • Share knowledge and expertise across Nationwide to enhance agriculture insurance lines.
